The single most important thing you can do to ensure the safe and effective operation of your fireplace or stove is to get your Chimney Swept regularly by a qualified Sweep. Regular sweeping will remove soot, bird nests, cobwebs and other blockages which can create unwanted problems.
How often should I have my chimney swept?
Before operating a fire for the first time or after a long lay off
Smokeless Coal – At least once a year
Wood – Up to four times a year
Bituminous coal – Twice a year
The summer months are a sensible time to get your chimney swept before professional sweeps get booked up ahead of the busier winter months.
